The vfdb e.V. is a scientific association. For a safe life, the vfdb e.V. deals with current and future-oriented safety issues in a trend-setting manner. The vfdb e.V. participates in research and development. It supports the experts by technical information, guidelines and publication of a technical-scientific magazine.

This takes place on the one hand in the 14 expert units. Here, experts from science and practice sit together and develop guidelines, position papers and fact sheets.

On the other hand, the vfdb e.V. participates in national and international research projects. We are currently involved in 4 national projects and one EU project. Read more about this here. Furthermore, the vfdb is involved in scientific studies. In 2020, for example, we commissioned a study on the topic of "Digital Transformation in Civil Defense" in cooperation with the Björn Steiger Foundation. On the basis of the results, Department 6 has directly taken on the leadership for the implementation of a study on the topic of "Future Technologies and Scenarios in Fire and Disaster Protection". The data is currently still being evaluated.
